You are invited to join the entire Highrock community every weekday at noon for a moment of reflection, prayer, and celebrating how God changes lives through His Word.
Lent is a season in the Chruch that begins on Ash Wednesday and is 40 days (excluding Sundays) ending on Easter. It is a season marked by waiting, fasting, repentance, returning, renewing and preparation. The anceint Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness to be disciplined and prepared by God for the promised land. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness to prepare himself for his earthly ministry. As we engage in this season we seek to draw us nearer to God and be prepared to not only celebrate His resurrection on Easter but then to go forth from there better prepared for whatever ministry He has called us to.
"For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return"
Ash Wednesday is a day where we reflect on and remind ourselves of our mortality and receive ashes on our foreheads as a visible reminder. This year we invite you to drop by the church office (39 Harvard St.) anytime between 7am-7pm. You'll be led through a short liturgy, you'll receive the ashes and spend time in prayer and spiritual conversation with a pastor.
During the season of Lent, one of the primary things we encourage you to do is fast. Fasting is a wonderful spiritual discipline that helps create space for you not only to deny your flesh of earthly things and increase your reliance on God but also to create space and opportunity to become more aware of His presence and be renewed in Him and prepared for ministry.
