Beverly, Mass., October 26 – Highrock North Shore announced today the selection of Brynn Harrington as its new Lead Pastor following a vote at a Partners’ meeting on Sunday.

Pastor Brynn was formerly the church’s associate pastor and has served in leadership since helping plant the church 8 years ago. She replaces co-founder Aaron Engler, who resigned from his position in late August to pursue opportunities in his home state of Minnesota.

“We’re thrilled that Brynn is able and willing to step into the role,” Matt Modaff, who chairs the church’s leadership board, said. “We’re excited about what is ahead for her and for our community.”

Since Pastor Brynn has shared preaching and leadership duties since the church began, she was already well known to many at Highrock. The church voted in September to forego the standard step of forming a search committee and nominate Pastor Brynn immediately instead. Church leaders felt, Modaff said, “that God had already provided the lead pastor the church needed.”

Pastor Brynn spent her candidacy period meeting with church Partners one-on-one online and in socially distanced groups to create opportunities to answer questions and discuss her vision for the church. She also created a series of videos sharing her personal spiritual journey, her ministry background and her vision for the church moving forward.

Both the vote to nominate Pastor Brynn and the vote to confirm her as Lead Pastor were unanimous. She formally transitions into the role November 1 but has been serving as Acting Lead Pastor since Engler’s departure in late August.

Modaff noted that celebration is one of the Highrock North Shore’s core values, so the church didn’t want to miss an opportunity to celebrate this key transition. It will do so in two ways:

1. A digital installation service will take place on Zoom at 2pm Sunday, November 1st. Howard Burgoyne, superintendent of the ECC East Coast Conference, will lead the service, which will be broadcast live from the church building at 10 Dane St. in Beverly. 2. Following the service, there will be a drive-through reception from 3-3:45pm in the parking lot at 10 Dane St.
