Our Staff
Josh Throneburg
Lead Pastor
email Josh
Josh grew up in the cornfields of Illinois, went to college in Indiana and then moved straight to Seoul, South Korea (strange destination pattern). In 2003 he and his wife Minhee (she's Korean-Canadian and she is very cool) moved to the Boston area and have been here since. Josh's first role in ministry was at Onnuri Church in Korea where he served as the Missions Pastor and then served as Young Adult Pastor at Highrock Church in Arlington. Outside of planting this new church and getting to know the Brookline community better, he enjoys seeing movies (sometimes by himself sadly), playing golf and hanging out with his wife – although NOT in that order.
Dan Lee
Associate Pastor
email Dan
Dan was born in South Korea but moved to the U.S. when he was young and has spent a good bit of his life in the Boston area outside of some education in Syracuse, NY. He is married to Diana who grew up on the "other" coast – someplace called L.A. One of the best words to describe Dan is 'pastoral'. His heart for God's people and his passion for shepherding those people is tremendous and many of us have been overwhelmingly blessed by Dan's ministry to our church. And even better, he is Josh's polar opposite which (we hope) makes them a winning team! When he's not sharing his gifts of wisdom and counsel Dan spends his time checking out new worship music, playing sports, and listening to Josh's sermons on MP3 over and over (and praying for him ;D).
Yumiko Nakagawa
Welcoming Ministry
email Yumiko
If you are reading this and wondering why a church would make a staff position for 'Welcoming Ministry' it means you haven't had the good fortune of meeting Yumi yet! Yumi's heart of welcome and hospitality is extraordinary and it makes knowing her and spending time with her one of the great pleasures of being at this church. Her quick smile and quirky laugh are contagious. If you visit us you'll probably meet her somewhere near the front door where she'll be welcoming people at a record pace and helping everyone find a seat and a friend. When she's not at the front door she's likely to be found spending time with friends, hanging out at the Japanese library (she hails from Japan) or putting her Hawaiian vocabulary to good use by using words like aloha, mahalo and com-on-i-wanna-greet-u.
JD & Sara Brenke
College Ministry
email JD
JD is currently a theology student at Gordon-Conwell Seminary and is spending his time ministering to the college students here at Highrock. This young man is loaded w/ musical and pastoral gifts - which we love. But amazingly his gifts are just the beginning of why we love JD. More than his gifts we love his heart. JD is one of those guys who loves God and loves God's people and that love feeds and inspires those around him. And even more than how much we love his heart – we love his wife! One of the best things JD Brenke brings to Highrock is Sara Brenke who provides JD the perspective and patience he often desperately needs. Together they are a powerful part of God's kingdom and we are so excited for the great gift God has for the college students at Highrock. Outside of ministry JD loves playing things – guitar, drums, basketball, video games and the list goes on and on.
Kevin Antlitz
Pastoral Intern
email Kevin
Kevin is currently studying toward his Masters of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell as he also navigates the transition into being a new husband as he and his wife Susan have just recently gotten married. Kevin has one of those rare but precious personalities that appropriately balances the serious with the goofy. While his exterior can seem normal and predictable there is a fountain of life inside of him not always immediately noticed. Spending time with him is similar to that feeling you get when you see a very normal looking donut, but when you go and bite into it you find that it is filled with strawberry jam and you wonder “Where did that come from ?” That is Kevin. You may not know it to look at him, but he’s filled with strawberry jam. When not studying for classes or learning to love his wife, Kevin serves the church by coordinating the Sunday worship experience and by preparing and teaching our baptism class.
